Joe, not sure if this is your responsibility but some info is incorrect on the players. Derek Hale played for the Reds High A as you mentioned at one game and acording to some sites on the net he was born May 25, 1985 not Dec. 1......there may be other players with wrong info too.
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteI know this is independent ball but when the players uniform numbers keep changing you really start to wonder.
Hmm..not sure what you mean. The Outlaws have worn various differnt jerseys this year that meant number changes had to be accomodated (Green Fridays, Pink In the Park, etc.). Last night, Andrew Alvarado wore number 30 because a set of keys broke while in a lock out at the storage center and we were unable to replace a jersey that had gone missing...
ReplyDeleteI think part of last night's problem might have been all the old guys in the lineup. According to the pointstreak stats, at least 6 of the starters were 39 years old (and born on the same day!).
ReplyDeleteIt does seem as though that more and more GBL teams including the Outlaws are trying to get more crowd interest by bringing in former Major Leaguers and in some cases just old guys. It would be nice to see guys on their way up and not fill roster spots with guys who have had their shot. I think Canseco is looking for work.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Russell Saito-isn't this league to give guys on the way up a chance to show their skills, learn new ones, post the numbers and hopefully get picked up by a major team?
ReplyDeleteIn the business world, a good mentor is measured by how people on their team grow in knowledge and get promoted. That's the highest compliment to the mentor!
Exactly! Anonymous and Russell are on the money...what incentive is there for players to come to Chico if they are rookies trying to make it and only the older guys get to play? Nobody wants to be a bench warmer, right?
