Series To Begin in Victoria

Here's a picture of Victoria. I have no idea where the ballpark is on the island, nor the conference center, I just nabbed this photo at Google. Wish I were there. Almost hard to post a picture of how splendid it would all be. Alas...we had some beautiful weather in Chico the past two or three days, complete with a cool, but quick rain shower last night, so I'm happy about that.

In Victoria's inaugural season in the GBL, the Outlaws will be making their one stop at Royal Athletic Park. Mike Walker will be handling the play-by-play and he does a great job. You'll be able to find the link at their website http://www.victoriaseals.ca

Been keeping busy at the office. We had Thursday night Market last night, and I took one shift, a short shift in the Rascal outfit. Chico compeletly shuts down some downtown streets for a few blocks, and there's always a ton of people, food, crafts, etc. The Outlaws have had a booth since the second day I arrived in Chico, a the last Thursday in April, I worked the market night with everyone. And of course, the cool weather had a lot of people saying "October" by the time market wrapped up at 9pm.

The weekend series in Victoria, followed by a final leg of the trip in Los Angeles the better part of next week, and then home a week from today.

Homestand Draws To A Close

Here's a pretty nifty map of the Chico State campus. You might have to download the picture and then zoom in on it to see real well, but they do have the baseball stadium at the very top left corner of the map. I've driven around the campus a lot, and our downtown office is just south of campus, but this map put it into good perspective for me. We are literally the very far Northwest campus of campus, hence the train tracks and the Union-Pacific that rattles by nightly.

...Left That One Outside Like An Unmowed Lawn...

Saturday. Outlaws lose last night, but the pitching has seemingly been excellent, from both sides, all homestand. Evan White starts tonight, and he's been a top performer all season long.

I did get the unfortunate news that I won't be traveling to Canada with the team on the upcoming trip. I definitly understand a three-leg trip full of flights would be expensive to send me on. And, I've gotten to reflect on how well the Outlaws are dedicated to their broadcast. The fact that they drag me everywhere with them has really made the summer worthwhile. Being the 25th member of the traveling crew, I've come to understand the day in, day out nature of the season itself. The travel, the game, the city, the weather, the hotel, the bus, the food...it all cumulates into one festering, alive, fluid feeling of a team.

You'll be in good hands though. Edmonton and Victoria both broadcast, so you won't miss a pitch.

Enough poetics. Here's today's game notes:
