  1. Joe, I've counted over and over and still come up with 23 players on the rosters (both Pointstreak and Outlaws Web). There are ten pitchers and 13 position players. I've checked box scores and all position players seem to have played. Actually, the only one I can't see for a while back is Alvarado. What's up? Apart from that it was a rough Canadian adventure eh? Karma is as karma does.

  2. You did count correct. There are 23 players on the roster at both the website and Pointstreak. We've had Andrew Alvarado on the inactive list, and that makes 22 actives. Alvardo has been activated and DeJesus has not been released, but put on the inactive list. And what's this about karma?

  3. Hey Joe...You asked about karma? I don't have a dog in this hunt other than being a fan and student of the game so when I see things like the blanket release of a whole team (with the exception of three returning part timers which are now two), it smacks of an ego and character issue at the leadership level. Granted adjustments always need to be made and after last year some changes were definitely in order, but the core of the team was solid. No team ever does well starting from scratch, especially when they dispatch those who did everything asked of them. There is now a team with no real identity except that they are Cadaret's guys. So the karma that is revisiting the Outlaws may stem from the lack of loyalty shown to those who were the Outlaws. You asked. By the way, in the GBL Transactions it does show De Jesus as being released. Thanks Joe, hope you're having fun.

  4. I love the fact that you've come along with us wire to wire. You are a true Outlaws fan, and from being around the league, Chico by far has one of the most dedicated fan bases and players (home and visitors alike) enjoy playing there.

I'm attached to these guys, consider them friends, and I am everyone's number one fan on the broadcast. But...you learn really quickly (because everyone else is telling you)...this is a business. The players know that. We made the moves we did, and, it's never personal.

Everyone can ballyhoo about who is or isn't around, Greg's guys or not Greg's guys...but, regardless, everyone one of these guys has a great story and they're playing everyday like its game seven of the world series. Winning helps everything, of course. And I could always be doing a better job presenting their stories. I'm just saying, there's a lot of great North State talent on this team, and other great stories, and your current Outlaws should be as embraceable as anyone in year's past.

  5. The Curse of the Billy Goat (Cubs), the Curse of the Bambino (Red Sox), the Curse of Captain Eddie (Giants) and now the Outlaws have the CURSE of CADARET. Hi Joe. Look, I appreciate what you are saying about business but understand that even in business it’s not necessary to be ruthless. I too enjoy the discussion and forum here but I also understand that you are in a precarious position. I also understand that you are new to the scene and your loyalties lie with the players you have come to know and the management that hired you. In many ways that is as it should be and as it must be. I am not under any such constrictions unless you pull the plug on me or this blog in which case it would only serve to validate the points I and others have made. It’s not so much what Cadaret and Jayce did as it is why they apparently did it. A number of players brought in did not match the quality of those released, stats and records bear this out. I know that it is a manager’s and GM’s job to make appropriate changes and individually, as a player’s performance warrants, players’ releases are part of the game and part of business. When those changes are wholesale the motives become much more transparent and the efforts and performances mean nothing. That is not right and it is not good business. I don’t question the current players, they were offered an opportunity and they took it. They are living the dream. Others are holding onto the dream as long as they can. They should be aware though that it may not be how well they play that determines that fateful walk into the manager’s office.

Again, I do not have a dog in this hunt. I am a dedicated fan of the game and the players but not necessarily of this organization. As you said of your Orange County ordeal I have the liberty to say of the management and “call a spade a spade”. The worst thing in baseball is the “politics”. Good intellectual conversation is always fun, especially when it’s about BASEBALL.
